The studio and the residence are linked to each other and surrounded by a garden where we grow fruits and vegetables. The 13 m2 printmaking studio is located on the ground floor. On the upper floor is the drawing, sketching and design studio, which has a 13 m2 floor plan with armchairs, stools and 60 x 80 cm high desks. This space becomes a bedroom for one or two people
Artists-in-residence have 24/7 unlimited access to a fully equipped studio and are accommodated in a private bedroom next to the studio. They also have available a fully equipped kitchen, bathroom with shower and WI - FI.
The artist-in-residence may share the printmaking studio facilities during daytime working hours (10am to 8pm, a maximum of three people at a time can use the studio) as well as for evening events (vernissages of exhibitions or others) that may have been scheduled in advance.
Simultaneously, we began a series of short residencies aimed at disseminating, learning and deepening less toxic printmaking techniques.
These experiences are focused on three modalities:
A. Guided Training Residency
A residency for learning or specializing in printmaking techniques aimed at those who want to discover a new medium or delve deeper into the field of non-toxic printmaking. We follow a personalized plan based on your previous knowledge and experience. The practice is structured from foundational principles to more complex techniques, allowing you to have an immersive experience during your stay.
We have training and specialization programs based on the selected techniques and course length. As a reference we can offer:
Basic technical initiation course (relief print, monotypes, white embossing) for 10 hours over 5 days
Etching and aquatint on metal plate with salt mordant for 12 hours over 5 days
Mokuhanga (woodblock printmaking with watercolours inks) for 20 hours over 5 days
Other techniques of choice:
Linocut and its variants (polychrome, lino reduction)
Lithography on polyester plate or pronto plate litography (drawing and photographic method)
Photolithography with offset plates
Lithgraphy on recycled aluminium plates with citric acid (lemon juice)
Tetra pack engraving or green engraving
Blind embossing
Collagraf
B. Technical research residency in non-toxic printmaking
Aimed at experienced printmakers who want to develop projects in the field of non-toxic printmaking. Designed for those looking for the opportunity to experiment and try out new techniques to expand their artistic possibilities. The focus is on the processes and the systematization of results. Personalized guidance is available depending on the work plan. We combine training time with independent work time to provide greater flexibility. The number of training hours depends on the chosen technique, grouped in 3-hour blocks per session. We offer specialized technical assistance for each proposed technique. This is designed jointly with the resident prior to the start of their stay.
C. Self-Directed Residency in Printmaking Practice
This type of residency offers time and space to carry out a printmaking project independently, applying all the techniques and resources available at the studio. It is an invitation to engage with practice and creative process. It is a requirement for this modality to have proven experience in non-toxic printmaking. Extra technical training, or creative guidance can be requested subject to a fee and availability. You can hire the services of a printing assistant if necessary.
